Dean Procter

Research Scientist I

After completing graduate school studying vaccinia virus manipulation of the host ubiquitin-proteasome system (in my hometown of Sydney, Australia), I moved to Chicago to continue developing skills in virology and microscopy by studying the gradual yet dramatic transformation of the host Golgi apparatus into the human cytomegalovirus assembly compartment. I've recently turned my focus towards cancer and is currently looking to combine the high-throughput screening approaches of the Golub Lab with novel microscopy techniques and computer vision to understand cancer metastasis and the surrounding tumor microenvironment.
